Step 2 in Happy Life Project is to set goals and dreams. Though most of us have them, but we hardly write them down. "What's the point?". "No need, as long as I know them by heart"..2 common reasons I don't write down my goals and dreams. What about you? Ever ponder why you never write down your dreams and goals and actually set a date to achieve your goals? Writing them down is no different that listing down our "to do list" at work. Why is it at work we take the effort to list down all the tasks we need to follow up and complete but we never bother doing so to monitor the progress of our own live? Most of us never plan our day ahead. How many of us actually thought through all the tasks we need to do for the day, the week, the month and the year? Without writing down our goals and dreams, we tend not to monitor them.
Well, if you are still sceptic on writing down your goals and dreams, try this...List down the things you want to do every year. It can be as simple as climbing Mount Kinabalu, donate blood, taking up a yoga class or dye your hair blonde..anything. Trust me, you will do most of them. Back in 2011, I started listing down my to do list of that year. For example, in 2011, one of the to do list items was to start my own business and I did. In 2012, I put down going to perhentian island and I did that. This year, I listed bike tour in Taiwan and I have just completed it. Well, those are very minor accomplishments but it's the effort of making sure we complete them that counts. Imagine every year you list down 10 different items. In just 2 years, you would have done 20 things you would never thought of doing or completing.
Recently, BFM's regular guest Jeevan Sahadevan gave an insight on how to write down our goals and dreams. I think it's brilliant and all of us should try it. (http://www.bfm.my/raise-your-game-jeevan-sahadevan-action-coach-7-steps-process-for-setting-and-achieving-your-goals.html).
